The Holiday Island Fire Department is responsible for fire suppression, prevention and education services for the District. The Department is staffed by a Fire Chief, two full-time paid firefighters, and currently 28 volunteer firefighters. In addition to the services outlined above, the department is responsible for equipment testing and maintenance, hydrant inspections and maintenance, and limited commercial inspection services.

The Holiday Island Fire Department is managed by Fire Chief, Jack Deaton, who reports to the District Manager of the Holiday Island Suburban Improvement District. The district is governed by five elected commissioners.
Holiday Island has the largest volume of emergency medical calls in the county. The fire department handled 397 fire/emergency calls in 2008 with 19 volunteers.
Holiday Island has been recognized as the leading FireWise community within the state for the last six years.
In addition to the primary duties, the fire department has a host of other responsibilities, including educational fire drills ,CPR and fire extinguisher classes to the public, highway cleanup assistance, fire checks on residents living alone, winter delivery of medicines to shut-ins, testing and flushing all hydrants annually, testing 9,000 feet of fire hose annually, testing and repairing pumps, repair of fire trucks, FireWise chipper program and getting cats out of trees, etc.
